Peugeot 208 T16 Pikes Peak attacks Goodwood hill climb
Peugeot’s 208 T16, which won the Pikes Peak hillclimb last week, is attacking the hill in the Goodwood Festival of Speed. The car, that was driven to victory by nine-time World Rally Champion Sébastien Loeb, took first place in the 91st Pikes Peak International Hill Climb. Loeb covered the 12. 42-mile course, that has 156 corners and ascends 5000 feet, in just 8 minutes and 13 seconds. The 208 T16 includes a mid-mounted twin-turbo V6 that produces 875bhp, enough to provide the car a power-to-weight ratio of 1000bhp / ton. Traction is aided by four-wheel drive and high downforce aerodynamics. This enables it to rocket from rest to 62mph inside a staggering 1. 8sec, and from 0-150mph in 7. 0sec dead. It was eventually driven in the Goodwood Festival of Speed by Peugeot test-driver Grégory Guilvert. The 31-year-old driver, who last year competed inside the European FIA GT3 championship, was liable for testing the Pikes Peak 208 that brought Loeb his victory.
