Audi TT Roadster 3.2

Audi TT Roadster 3.2

What‘s it? The new Audi TT Roadster 3.2 the drop-top version of Audi TT Roadster's iconic sportster. This is actually the 3. 2-litre V6 version, which has standard Quattro four-wheel drive. What is it like? Even in pouring rain that prevents us from driving using the hood down, the new Roadster looks expensive. It may need lost the purity from the old car's design, however it now seems more sophisticated. It‘s : the spaceframe body is really a clever weight-saving blend of 58 per cent aluminium and 42 per cent steel. Model for model, it weighs 75kg lower than the old car. Inside, it feels less as a concept car made real, but a little more comfortable. The cabin is easily the very best inside the class. But probably the TT always felt special, until you drove it.

Not anymore. The steering is linear and accurate, if still not especially communicative, and also the chassis is really a whole heap better. There is plenty of grip, too. We tried both a dual-clutch S-Tronic version without Magnetic Ride (a £1150 option ), and also a manual car using the trick dampers.

Magnetic Ride works well – leave it off and you also have surprisingly comfortable cushioning on motorways and B-roads ; switch it on and you receive a much tauter set-up. As for S-Tronic, I still do not really reckon it offers more when compared to a decent auto 'box ; it is at its best when left to its own devices. Also, the gearlever is counter-intuitive for manual shifts, as you‘ve to push forward to reach up a gear and back to reach down, and also the wheel-mounted paddles are fiddly. Audi TT Roadster, But S-Tronic could possibly be worth its £1400 price, especially for company car users. It improves official economy figures from 27. 2 to 29. 7mpg combined and lowers CO2 from 250 to 227g / km. Additionally takes 0. 2sec from the 0-62mph time. Should I buy one? We'd certainly recommend trying one. The new TT still is not the best-driving roadster (both Boxster and 350Z are better ), but it is no slouch and also a refined cruiser to boot. The TT Not trades on looks alone. This can be a seriously good all-rounder, whatever the weather.
